The Brief
Design a scheme which is both exemplar for its sustainability credentials while considering the heritage of the local area.
The Solution
Optioneered pathways with the design team to meet net zero target in operational and embodied carbon.
Undertook Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM) to assess thermal comfort levels against current and future weather.
Assessed internal daylight and sunlight of the new development and it’s impact on neighbouring properties.
The Result
We proposed an all-electric energy strategy, incorporating air source heat pumps and solar PV roof tiles. We also mitigated against overheating risk by incorporating internal shutters, low g-value glazing, optimised window openings, and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, while balancing daylight and sunlight concerns.
