The Brief
To undertake a Microclimate Assessment of a new residential building in Colindale. The new development is in the heart of the regenerated Colindale and will provide high quality sustainable housing. As per regional and local policy, microclimate assessments are required to assess the impacts the new development may have on local wind speeds and patterns.
The Solution
Love Design Studio developed a detailed computational fluid dynamic model of the local area, and assessed the microclimate conditions both with and without the Proposed Development in situation.
The Result
The Proposed Development was well designed and in line with nearby building heights and form, meaning the impacts were limited and no further mitigation was required. Visualisations of wind speed changes on the balconies, surrounding sensitive areas and nearby cumulative schemes demonstrated the negligible impact the Proposed Development will have on microclimate conditions.
